WHY PAMOJA KWA MAENDELEO YA AFRIKA
Africa is a young continent; this must be an advantage unfortunately, becoming a curse, and the situation will be worse if no solution is crafted in harnessing the energy of the youths to build a competitive continent.
Since Colonialism African youths have suffered from systemic failure across spectrum.
There is a high level of apathy, ignorance, and negative mindset. These should be addressed through providing soft and hard skills responding to specific problems.
Millions of the youths did not get a chance of acquiring formal education due to ignorance, poverty, corruption, conflicts, and other reasons. The other conundrum that must be addressed urgently is that millions of youths who are in schools spent over 20 years of what was supposed to be their productive years acquiring knowledge which does not respond to the skills needed in the market place.
This is a negative double effect, the value of time, more resources spent that are seldom regained due to unemployment.
It is heart breaking that there are youths who are still functioning as if they are in fruit gathering and hunting era.
Another enigma is about over 80% of the African parents being into subsistence farming yet the rest of the world transitioned into industrialization and now artificial intelligence.
The fixed mindset effect, the complex of inferiority, the dependence, the negative media conditioning has brought about youths being involved in gambling, joining gangs and rebel groups as available options.
